BUPA

Bupa is supporting environmental restoration through its Healthy Cities program.

Greening Australia is partnering with Bupa to create greener, more liveable cities across Australia, thanks to funding unlocked by its Healthy Cities program.

Healthy Cities is a global Bupa initiative designed to empower people to adopt healthy, long-term habits in their everyday life, while unlocking investment in nature. Through Bupa’s ‘Move Month’ in September, Bupa employees across Australia and New Zealand are completing activities and challenges to unlock up to $1 million of funding for environmental restoration projects.

Funding from Bupa will support our Nature in Cities program in Brisbane, helping to restore degraded areas of the Archerfield Wetlands Parkland, one of Brisbane’s largest floodplain ecosystems.

The project will plant approximately 7000 native plant species, across 2.5 hectares to improve biodiversity, provide shade canopy, and support the creation of a nature-based recreation parkland for urban residents, with flow on benefits to the Oxley catchment area and the Brisbane River.

“Healthy Cities Move Month is a simple but powerful idea. The more steps people take, the more money Bupa will invest in biodiversity and environmental restoration programs. We want to help our people experience firsthand how adopting healthy habits in their day-to-day lives will not only improve their health, but the health of the planet.”

– Nick Stone, CEO for Bupa APAC

Bupa has made a commitment to play a leading role in improving people’s health through the restoration and regeneration of nature by 2040 through its Mission Regenerate program. By 2025 Bupa will have supported 1 million people each year to improve their physical and mental health by scaling initiatives like the Healthy Cities program that help restore and regenerate nature.
