Working for our unique landscape

Throughout its 26-year history Greening Australia has been tackling critical environmental issues through an innovative blend of practical experience, science and a commitment to working within rural communities.

Greening Australia is now scaling up its work to address the big issues of climate change, biodiversity loss and water quality, but remains committed to the problems faced by farmers and land managers every day. Issues like weed control, salinity, soil degradation and erosion, and balancing conservation and production.

Our staff live in rural communities and understand local conditions, local challenges and local people. Many of our staff are also farmers or come from farming families and recognise the challenge of maintaining productivity and achieving sustainability.

Greening Australia assists farmers and rural communities to manage native vegetation by providing locally relevant and appropriate advice and information based on good science, as well as practical on-the-ground assistance to make the change happen.

In the past 5 years Greening Australia has worked with the community to:

  • Partner with 10 023 landholders in on-ground projects

  • Plant over 15.5 million seedlings

  • Direct seed19 000 kilometres of treeline

  • Erect nearly 8054km of fencing to protect and conserve native vegetation

You can read more about our work in affecting real change on the ground through the projects menu on the left.
