Rivers of Carbon - All about partnerships

“Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.” – Henry Ford

Rivers of Carbon is a partnership project which links and extends riparian remnant corridors into the wider landscape to facilitate species movement in the face of climate change.

The Australian River Restoration Centre and Greening Australia the main partners, drawing in many other partners at the local level such as Local Land Services, Landcare, Bush Heritage and TransGrid to name a few.

Science and local knowledge are used to identify priority areas for on-ground works with a particular focus on connecting remnant vegetation and past conservation projects.

Major projects

We now have three major sub projects underway in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales, and hope to continue to grow our activities across the region.  All projects are run using the Rivers of Carbon approach of bringing together science + experience = knowledge. To date, Rivers of Carbon has rehabilitated more than 130km of riparian zone with over 70 landholders who have fenced riparian areas from stock, installed alternative water sources and undertaken tubestock and direct revegetation activities.
