Through Greening Australia’s Nature in Cities program, the three year partnership will help restore natural ecosystems by establishing 25,000 native trees, shrubs and wildflowers across three major Australian cities. These biodiverse native plantings will increase habitat for wildlife, engage community members and build green corridors to create greener, more liveable cities where people and nature can thrive.
Nature’s Own is on an eco-leadership journey to give sustainably back to nature. Visit their page Nature’s Own, For Nature For You to learn more about their sustainability efforts or keep reading to learn more about the Greening Australia projects we have partnered on.
In 2022, the first year of the partnership, Greening Australia will be working in two urban areas in Adelaide and Sydney to reconnect people with nature.
Project One:
In the Field River region in South Australia, located between the Adelaide Hills and the coast, this project will:
Two out of every three Australians live in or close to our capital cities, and this number is increasing. Re-greening urban landscapes provides important benefits for both people and nature.
Project Two:
Camden LGA is located in Western Sydney, an area forecast to experience rising temperatures that will contribute to a worsening urban heat island affect. This project will:
This male Flame Robin is a winter vistor to the lowlands of south-eastern Australia. During the warmer months he breeds in higher altitude moist eucalypt forests and woodlands before migrating during the colder months to more open lowland habitats.
In years two and three Greening Australia will work with Nature’s Own on a re-greening project in a third Australian city.
“Since 1975, Nature’s Own have been inspired by the power of nature to serve healthier fuller lives. The brand’s belief is, that nature looks after us and with our delicate ecosystems under more pressure than ever before, it’s time for us to give back to nature.
Together with Greening Australia, and through a long-term strategic partnership that aims to protect and re-green our urban areas, we will improve the health of our planet, educate local communities on sustainability, and raise awareness about the intricate relationship between environmental wellness and self-care.
While there is always more to be done on sustainability, our partnership with Greening Australia is the first step to not only making a tangible difference to local communities but actively giving back to help protect our planet for the generations to come.”
