Wonderful waterways and primed productivity field day 1

Do you have a worn out drain or creekline, or a degraded paddock that’s flooded in winter and dry in summer? Interested in how to transform this space for all round production and ecological vitality or perhaps just curious to see how you can transform a linear drain into a beautiful meandering system?

Join well known landcare expert, Chris Ferreira from the Forever Project and Greening Australia for a morning in the field discussing and observing the work that has recently been completed as a part of the Bastow Farm waterway project. Learn the secrets of how this project will transform the waterway, bolster productivity and improve the health of the farm creating climate resilience and drought proofing.

Established as an ecological approach to managing water on the farm, this project focused on redesigning a shallow drainage channel to hold water up in the landscape and filter it before reaching the Harvey River.

Learn about the design approach taken and hear firsthand from Cathy Bastow about problems she was experiencing, and early day outcomes observed.

A big thank you to the Bastow Family for opening their gates and hosting us on their property, the incredible team behind the project; The Forever Project for their design and education guidance, GPForestry for the site prep and planting, Wargl for their superb earthworks skills, Harvey Aboriginal Corporation for their planting crew, Peel-Harvey Biodiversity Group for their assistance with rabbit control, Peel-Harvey Catchment Council for providing the fencing, our project supporters; Harvey River Restoration Taskforce, Shire of Harvey, Shire of Waroona and Alcoa Foundation for funding this important work.
