Newland Head Conservation Park Community Planting Day

Be part of planting the WOMADelaide Forests!

Greening Australia and the WOMADelaide Foundation have partnered for more than 15 years to measure the festival’s carbon emissions footprint and plant carbon-storing native trees and shrubs to offset it. This collaboration sees $2 from every WOMADelaide ticket sold invested into tree plantings to create native, biodiverse forests in regional South Australia.

Collaborating with the Hills and Fleurieu Landscape Board’s Back from the Brink project, WOMADelaide, National Parks and Wildlife Service SA, Friends of Newland Head Conservation Park and the local community, we will be planting local native species on Ngarrindjeri land to recreate suitable habitat for threatened species such as the Western Beautiful Firetail, Mount Lofty Ranges Chestnut-rumped Heathwren and other species associated with closed shrubland habitats. This will help reduce immediate extinction risks and improve the long-term viability of threatened species and ecological communities in the Mount Lofty Ranges and Fleurieu Peninsula.

All age groups and fitness levels welcome! Morning tea and lunch will be provided. Please register now to secure your spot and help us cater for numbers. See you there!
