Haven’t you heard that the Bird is the Word?

As the name suggests, the Golden Whistler is named after it’s gorgeous whistling song and golden appearance. (This bird is literally the word!)

While the male Golden Whistler (Pachycephala pectoralis) is quietly spoken, it has a beautiful, eye-catching golden exterior. Comparatively, though the female Golden Whistler has a less vibrant plumage, it can be heard serenading the Australian bush with it’s charming whistling song.

Did you know that the technique the Hooded Robin uses to catch its lunch is called the perch-and-pounce?

Hooded Robins can often be found sitting on short tree stumps or branches close to the ground, where they can survey from a close distance and subsequently dive quickly to catch their prey (usually insects).
