Our people are central to achieving our vision of healthy and productive landscapes where nature and people thrive. At Greening Australia we ensure that this vision underpins everything we do, from our onground work to the way we treat our staff.

To send a strong message to employees about the importance we place on their health and safety, and to raise awareness about the issue, we held a national ‘Stand Down for Safety Day’ on 21 February 2017.

On the day, all staff, including casual employees and volunteers, were asked to down tools and attend safety events held around the country.

Stand Down for Safety Day was an opportunity to raise awareness about the consequences of poor safety, reinforce expectations, discuss health and safety matters with fellow colleagues, and to introduce a suite of new safety tools and initiatives. The management team reinforced the day’s learnings with their personal commitment to improving safety and wellbeing across the organisation.

Stand Down for Safety Day will be held each year to help meet Greening Australia’s goal of ensuring that everyone arrives home safely everyday.
