Notice native species

Urban green spaces in Sydney provide food and shelter for a whole range of native plants and animals. Keeping nature thriving in our cities contributes to resilient ecosystems for all living things.

Did you know that the Inner West of Sydney is home to over 160 species of birds? Other threatened species in Sydney include the Long-nosed Bandicoot, the Grey-headed Flying Fox, and the iconic Koala.

Notice urban heat

Have you noticed summers getting hotter? Climate change has led to average summer temperatures rising across Sydney. But there is a simple way to make sure urban heat stays under control – trees!

The more trees in your suburb, the cooler it is. In fact, the temperature on the ground can be up to 6 degrees cooler when there’s enough trees around.
