Impact investment firm Conscious Investment Management (CIM) and Greening Australia have partnered since 2024 to deliver Environmental Plantings across Australia, backed by an innovative financing model.

Greening Australia acts as project developer, CIM provides financing linked to the generation and sale of carbon credits, and the land is held under structures designed for custodianship for generations to come.

So far CIM’s managed funds have financed the purchase and restoration of two properties: Nyadinang Najung on Wolgalu Country in the NSW Snowy Monaro, and Kulliparu Downs on Nauo and Wirangu Country on South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula.

Together, these properties represent over 4,000 hectares of land being actively restored and protected.

These properties were chosen for their potential to connect critical habitat for native species while storing carbon and benefitting local community. They have both been registered as Environmental Plantings carbon projects with 100-year permanence periods by Canopy, and in combination are projected to sequester close to 500,000 tonnes of carbon emissions over the next 25 years.

The hope is to continue replicating this innovative model in other regions to make a tangible difference to Australian landscapes, backed by CIM’s mission-aligned investors.
