As part of their broader sustainability commitments, wellbeing brand Nature’s Own supported Greening Australia from 2021 to 2024 to regreen urban environments and reconnect communities with nature.

Our three-year partnership engaged locals in planting a diversity of native trees, shrubs, grasses and wildflowers, helping create healthier, greener, more biodiverse urban landscapes in Queensland, New South Wales, and South Australia.

29,350

trees, shrubs, grasses and wildflowers established

18.5

hectares of habitat restored

200+

community members involved

To deliver these plantings, we worked with First Nations teams, local councils, community groups and enthusiastic volunteers. Staff from Nature’s Own were very willing participants too!

All plantings are in public spaces. That means those who took part can easily check on their handiwork, and locals can all enjoy the benefits of having more biodiverse spaces for recreation at their backdoor.

Supporting local

In 2024, Nature’s Own raised valuable funds for our environmental restoration work together through an in-store Woolworths campaign, using the power of their brand to reach new audiences and drive awareness of the importance of nature in cities for people in high-traffic grocery environments.

In recognition of Nature’s Own’s founding in Brisbane, the funds raised went towards our high-impact program of urban restoration at Archerfield Wetlands Parkland in collaboration with the Brisbane Sustainability Agency.

Caring for nature and human wellbeing

Nature’s Own were keen for the partnership to promote people’s wellbeing by giving local communities opportunities to actively connect with nature. No argument there. Over our 40+ years of rebuilding nature we’ve seen firsthand the positive impact engaging with nature can have for people. We worked together to ensure each project would help nature thrive while also enriching people’s lives.

We invited the community to get involved through planting days, and we chose to plant in places where the extra diversity would encourage people to explore and enjoy the natural world on their own backstep. A healthy, resilient environment makes for healthy, resilient people too.

Reflections on the partnership

“This partnership exemplifies the shared value that can emerge when business investment supports nature-positive outcomes. As a wellbeing brand, Nature’s Own understood the inherent value of connecting people with nature, so we could do some really innovative projects together. Through this partnership, we rebuilt urban habitats and enhanced biodiversity, while helping Nature’s Own deliver on its commitments to support healthier, more resilient communities.”

Michael Gregg, Corporate Partnerships Lead, Greening Australia

“Nature looks after us, and with our delicate ecosystems under more pressure than ever, it’s time for us to give back. While there is always more to be done on sustainability, our partnership with Greening Australia was actively giving back to helping protect and re-green our urban areas, while also engaging local communities and raising awareness about the intricate relationship between environmental wellness and self-care. Those plants will keep growing to make a tangible difference to local communities, now and for generations to come.”
