Our regular volunteering sessions are held at our nursery in Aranda every Wednesday morning from 9:30am to 12pm. They run all year with a winter break during July and some time off over the school holidays in December and January.
This group helps out with seasonal nursery tasks such as weeding, propagating, and thinning our native seedlings. We also provide morning tea as a thank you and to provide opportunities to socialise with like-minded people. If you are available to attend our Wednesday group, please see staff when you arrive and they will be able to show you around. It is also advisable to come along around 10am on your first day, so they have set up tasks for other volunteers and will then have the time to show you around properly.
For safety reasons, it is a requirement to wear a hat and sturdy closed-toe shoes to these sessions. Long pants and long sleeves are also recommended.
Some lifting and standing for long periods may be required. You do not need any previous experience to volunteer, just a love of plants and the outdoors.
After attending a handful of nursery volunteer sessions, you may be eligible to join our Thursday ‘Green Team’.
