How do you produce good carbon credits? Insights from Environmental Plantings projects in Australia

Join us for an online panel discussion about the impacts of Environmental Plantings projects in Australia, and what constitutes good practice environmental restoration.

The Australian National University (ANU) and Greening Australia have been collaborating on a research project that explores the experiences of revegetation practitioners and landholders with the Environmental Plantings (EP) method, under the Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) scheme. The ACCU Scheme is a foundational element of Australia’s climate change mitigation strategy, capable of effecting profound change on rural landscapes, with the potential for a host of environmental, economic and social co-benefits, along with adverse impacts that need to be avoided. With Greening Australia’s assistance, ANU researchers investigated these impacts and asked stakeholders what makes for a good practice revegetation project. Findings build understanding about the key ingredients for good quality carbon credits in Australia.

Panel members share diverse perspectives from environmental restoration, carbon market policy, research, and practice.
