Greening Australia is Australia’s largest environmental enterprise.   We tackle Australia’s biggest environmental challenges with the best science and the best people, who work with communities to return life to landscapes. From restoring Tasmania as an island ark, extensive regeneration activities across the southern Australia agricultural belt, to improving the health of the Great Barrier Reef, we are working to create healthy, productive landscapes across the country. With 120 staff in 25 different locations, we conduct a variety of work ranging from large scale restoration projects to endangered species monitoring.

About the role

Director – Reef Aid is a senior leadership role which works with our partners and stakeholders to assist the restoration and health of the internationally recognised natural wonder, the Great Barrier Reef.  Reef Aid is one of Greening Australia’s 5 national programs.

The Director – Reef Aid is the key leadership role for this project supported by a Science Lead, Operation’s and Project Manager’s and will be responsible for all the planning and delivery of area’s such as:

  • All financial aspects of this significant project
  • Delivery of the various sub projects which make up this program, safely, on time and on budget
  • Management of a large number of stakeholders, including our delivery and funding partners, both private and all levels of Government
  • Play a leading role in the raising of funds to undertake these activities
  • The growth and development of the staff within this program

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced General Manager with a minimum of 15 years relevant experience who has a thorough understanding of environmental issues to showcase your specialist knowledge and high-level operational management skills. The work you will lead will be across a wide range of landscapes within Queensland, whilst working in collaboration with our partners, researchers, practitioners and the community.  Your contribution will play a significant part in the long term success of Greening Australia.

·       Input into tendering and proposals

·       Scope and contract management oversight

·       Successful service delivery of contracts valued over $>1M
