SPA Operations Officer

Location: Eganu + Perth, WA

Employment type: Part time (0.6 EFT 22.8 hours per week)

Salary: FTE $68,250 + 12.25% super + salary packaging

This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on Operations Officer to support the delivery of on-ground works in our Seed Production Area.

About the Role

As a key player in the SeedX team you will support the delivery of on-ground works and will be based remote at the Jarrega Seed Production Area (SPA) in Eganu. Suitable on-site accommodation during working days is offered.

You will also be involved in liaising with contractor teams and contributing to effective relationship management of all of our stakeholders including First Nations partners, landholders, subcontracts and vendors.

Key Activities

  • Implement onsite activities and SPA obligations as per annual work plans
  • Perform irrigation maintenance, weed control, fence repair, planting, pest control, and general site upkeep
  • Participate in field monitoring, seed collection, and seed cleaning activities
  • Undertake slashing and weed reduction for bushfire season preparation
  • Ensure compliance with all WHS principles, legislation, and GA’s policies, including issuing clear safety instructions, inducting subcontractors on safe practices, and promptly addressing and resolving any health and safety issues
  • Induct subcontractors on safe working methods and required safety precautions
  • Contribute to onboarding and relationship management with landholders and First Nations groups
  • Supervise subcontractors, partners, and vendor packages as needed
  • Ensure effective on-ground service delivery following clear, achievable instructions
  • Contribute to fostering a cohesive team culture within the SPA operations team

About You

The Essentials:

  • Demonstrated hands-on approach to work
  • Proven practical knowledge and experience in related trades; this could be in agriculture, horticulture or construction
  • A proven ability to work independently and with limited supervision once provided instructions
  • Self-motivated individual who can think outside of the box and find solutions to technical problems
  • An Australian manual driver’s licence
  • Basic computer skills and the willingness to learn to operate automated irrigation system

  • Remote First Aid
  • Offroad driving experience
  • Experience with remote working environments
  • Experience in engagement and supervision of contractors
  • Fencing and irrigation maintenance
  • A Trade Cert IV or above
