About the role

This role represents an outstanding opportunity to join Greening Australia in a full-time or part-time capacity focusing on one of Australia’s greatest environmental challenges. You will play a key part in landscape restoration and conservation by providing high-level technical support and overseeing on-ground delivery of Greening Australia’s projects.

Key activities:

  • Maintain landholder relationships and undertake site monitoring programs
  • Provide practical advice to clients in relation to revegetation, weed control, seed management and site management issues
  • Liaise with project partners on project operations
  • Develop and implement planting plans
  • Represent Greening Australia in interactions with key stakeholders and funding bodies
  • Work with community groups to deliver on ground projects
  • Supervise small teams, subcontractors, partners and volunteers

 
About you

The essentials:

  • Qualifications in Environmental Science, or extensive practical experience in environmental works
  • Solid track record in environmental project delivery and landholder engagement and experience in conducting large scale and complex practical environmental works
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise work teams, including the ability to support staff members on challenging projects
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team, while also taking initiative when required to work unsupervised
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with experience in liaison with clients and partners
  • Willing to work in remote areas of Tasmania \ lutruwita for both short and extended periods away from home.

The nice-to-haves:

  • Degree in Environmental Management and/or Science or equivalent
  • Botanical / vegetation identification skills related to local area
  • Technical report writing skills

Other information and how to apply

The nature of this role requires flexible working arrangements and some evening and weekend work. The role also requires travelling to and from sites on a daily basis in work vehicles. Additionally, it may require work for short and extended periods away and occasional overnight camping in remote locations.
