This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, strategic and dynamic Operations Manager to join our team and work with us as we lead a new era of conservation action through integrated, science-based planning for ecological restoration, regenerative agriculture, and climate change adaptation.

About the role

This role represents an outstanding opportunity to join Greening Australia focusing on Australia’s greatest environmental challenges. You will play a key part in contributing to our goals through leading local state operational teams in developing and securing local business as well as planning and delivering projects.

Key Activities:

  • Delivery of revegetation/restoration/environmental management contracts and ensuring the safe delivery of high-quality projects on time and on budget
  • Collaboratively provide regional leadership in the development and implementation of landscape restoration projects.
  • Manage monitoring and evaluation programs to determine performance of on-ground works.
  • Effective leadership to the local operations team and partners.
  • Seek, establish and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders in order to pursue business development opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively in developing funding proposals for government, philanthropic foundations, corporate entities and individual donors.

About you

The Essentials:

 Proven significant experience in operations management within the resource, construction, civil or associated industry.

  • Well-developed risk management, financial and commercial acumen.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management including financial tracking and reporting, scope management and delivering project budgets.
  • Experience in planning, managing and leading multiple teams, ensuring safety management, quality compliance, resource efficiency and reporting requirements.
  • Significant experience in contractor management and procurement processes.
  • Strong experience mentoring and developing people capability, fostering business growth and operational excellence.
  • Strong relationship management skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across all management levels.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with experience in liaison with clients and partners, including the mining and infrastructure sectors, local and state government and relevant consultants/researchers.
  • Willing to work in remote areas for both short and extended periods away from home.

 The Nice to Haves:

  • A developed technical understanding in a related area (e.g., Horticulture, Ecology, Botany, Soil Science).
  • Landscape/Civil Construction and/or Agricultural Operations experience.
  • Tertiary/Degree Qualifications in Leadership and Business Management.
