In-house Legal Counsel (Part-Time)

What is the role?

Due to our growth we have an exciting opportunity for a part-time In-house Legal Counsel (3-4 days per week) to join our team and support our conservation and restoration actions.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the In-house Legal Counsel will work across our programmes to provide legal support and day to day advice across a diverse range of commercial, corporate, compliance, intellectual property and competition law matters including:

  • Negotiation and review of contract terms and conditions
  • Commercial arrangements and deal structures
  • Investments, joint ventures and structural arrangements
  • Capital raising and financing
  • Intellectual property
  • Property acquisition and leasing
  • Australian Financial Services Licence compliance
  • Adhoc legal queries

Who are we looking for?

Commercially astute, strategic and with an ability to see the bigger picture, you will thrive on the breadth and variety of this role, utilising your legal knowledge, commercial acumen, and strong interpersonal skills to provide pragmatic and meaningful legal advice, solutions, and support to make a difference.

  • Tertiary qualified with a Bachelor of Law
  • Three or more years’ post admission experience at a law firm or in an in-house legal role
  • Strong analytical mind and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to interpret legal, regulatory policy and propose pragmatic solutions
  • Excellent communication and drafting skills – able to draft clear and pragmatic advice and commercial contracts and other legal documents
  • Strong stakeholder management and partnering skills; able to engage and build relationships across all levels and communicate legal issues clearly and succinctly
  • Able to work autonomously and effectively manage time and deliver against multiple projects and priorities, providing regular updates and escalating issues as appropriate
  • Able to work as part of a team; willingness to learn; live the company values and lead for purpose
