Greening Australia is Australia’s largest environmental enterprise.   We tackle Australia’s biggest environmental challenges with the best science and the best people, who work with communities to return life to landscapes. From restoring Tasmania as an island ark, extensive regeneration activities across the southern Australia agricultural belt, to improving the health of the Great Barrier Reef, we are working to create healthy, productive landscapes across the country. With 120 staff in 25 different locations, we conduct a variety of work ranging from large scale restoration projects to endangered species monitoring.

About the role

To reflect our changing business model a Business Development Manager position has been created. This position will build our future customer base through the provision of the many services that Greening Australia offers. These include: –

  • large scale restoration and associated management services,
  • biodiversity offsetting,
  • carbon farming and offsetting,
  • native seed,
  • mine site rehabilitation and
  • capacity building

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Business Development Manager to showcase your skills with their contribution playing a significant role in the long term success of Greening Australia.

The role reports to the Director, Commercial Development.

Skills and experience

The successful candidate will have at least 10 years relevant experience and demonstrate the following specific and quantifiable skills:

1.   Business Development

  • A demonstrated ability to attract new customers of significant size and opportunity to Greening Australia. This would be achieved by: –
  1. Detailed annual business plan
  2. Planned approach to both our chosen market and customers within it
  3. High levels of planning
  4. Highly developed customer management skills
  • Assistance in the preparation and submission of tenders and proposals within target markets
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with key stakeholders to pursue growth opportunities and advance Greening Australia’s interests.
  • The successful transition of existing relationships to other staff within Greening Australia

2.    Financial Management

  • Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting ensuring the achievement of the annual budget
  • Identification of revenue shortfalls and leading local actions to build the funding pipeline/fill the gap.

3.   Leadership, Team Work and Engagement

  • An ability to influence people across the organisation
  • Demonstrated evidence of growing people

Experience in either the environmental or not for profit sector is preferred but not essential
