Regional Toolbox for Environmental Change

Sustainability Toolbox forum at Narmbool for schools

Greening Australia proudly partnered with Sovereign Hill to present the third annual Regional Toolbox for Environmental Change forum in Victoria on Friday August 19th 2011.

The event was held at the Narmbool Environmental Discovery Camp, 30 km south of Ballarat near Elaine. The forum was designed to inspire and support education for sustainability in regional schools, a need identified after delivering over a decade of Melbourne-based Toolbox Forums.

This year’s regional forum brought together over 100 participants including teachers, exhibitors, workshop presenters, keynote speakers and community members.

The Regional Forum followed a similar format to the 2010 event with an acknowledgement of country by Gunditjamara elder Uncle Ted Lovett, two keynote speakers - Professor Kate Auty, Victorian Commissioner for Sustainability and Paul Dullard who was 2010 VAEE Educator of the year. This was followed by a range of hands-on workshops which were delivered by a number of excellent education for sustainability providers and a smorgasbord of educational displays were on show. Two school case studies were presented involving student presenters from St. Francis Xavier PS in Ballarat and Port Fairy Consolidated School. These were powerful presentations and a highlight of the forum
