Contaminated Machinery Course
Did you know that you can face fines of up to $60,000 if your vehicle or machinery is found to be spreading weed seeds?
Whether you’re a four wheel driver, day tripper, maintenance crew, consultant or anyone else, you are responsible for ensuring that your vehicle is not spreading weeds. Random checks are carried out routinely by the authorities and frequently offenders don’t even know they’re offending.
Greening Australia Queensland now runs a Contaminated Machinery Course that identifies the responsibilities of all Queenslanders in stopping the spread of weeds by vehicles. The one-day nationally accredited course covers competency in cleaning and inspections of machinery and vehicles.
Pest plants are among the most serious threats to Australia’s natural environment and primary production. Weeds reduce farm and forest productivity, displace native species and contribute significantly to land degradation.
In Queensland, pest plants and animals have significant impacts on native species and are estimated to cost the agricultural industry more than $500 million in control costs and lost production.
