Yarrilinks Planting Weekend

The Yarrilinks planting weekends have become a tradition in the Yarriambiack Shire.

This year we celebrated the 11th year of this wonderful weekend. The first planting weekend originated from the organising committees desire to complete a one-off revegetation project.

Due to the success of Creek to Creek, the committee has continued organising the weekends and this will be the eleventh consecutive event.

The Yarrilinks weekend continues to be far more than a tree planting event. It combines environmental benefit, community involvement, cultural exchange, and socially lots of fun. It provides a greater understanding of local environmental issues and fosters a greater cultural understanding between city and country people.

The cultural exchange has become an important part of the planting weekend and now the social and cultural outcomes are arguably as important as the environmental outcomes, so we provided a number of social activities :

•    Breakfasts at Minyip Memorial Hall;

•    Lunch onsite both days;

•    Evening meal and entertainment Saturday night provided by Lentil as Anything; and

•    Bus transport was provided to and from the planting sites

The planting weekend takes place in August so keep an eye on the website for details and come along and join us next year.
