Greening Australia’s Green Corps projects come to an end
Graduations for final round 53 projects taking place in SA, WA and NSW over the coming weeks
Since 2006, 1500 young people between 17 and 20 years of age have volunteered on Greening Australia’s Green Corps teams in SA, WA, the ACT and NSW to work on environmental and heritage projects. Each project runs for six months, participants were paid a training allowance, to receive accredited training in Conservation and Land Management while on the job.
Greening Australia would like to thank all participants, partner agencies, volunteer organisations and GA staff who have worked to make the 2006-09 Green Corps program such a success. As graduations are held across all locations in the coming weeks, Greening Australia extends our congratulations to participants, and we hope Green Corps has provided you with an increased appreciation of the environment, of your own capability to contribute to your communities, and as you move on to your next challenge – whether that be further study or work - wish you the very best in your future endeavours.

About Green Corps and Greening Australia
Green Corps - Young Australians for the Environment – has been giving young people the work experience and life skills they need to find employment while delivering tangible benefits to Australia's environmental and cultural heritage since 1996.
Greening Australia has delivered the youth development and environmental training program on behalf of the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR). Initially across the country in partnership with Job Futures from 2002 to 2005, and independently in SA, WA, NSW and the ACT from 2006-09.
Across Australia each year 1700 17 - 20 year olds have undertaken structured work experience and improved their career and employment prospects through participating in six month Green Corps projects. Teams of ten participants have been guided by a Team leader to receive accredited training in Conservation and Land Management, whilst performing activities in habitat protection and restoration, cultural heritage, bushland conservation and tree planting, community education, and preservation of traditional indigenous culture, skills and stories.
Importantly, Green Corps projects have been developed with local partner agencies ensuring that they have lasting environmental and cultural heritage value to the community, giving participants an opportunity to make a real contribution to the local environment and community.
