ACT Land Keepers
In and around the Canberra region, Greening Australia’s ACT Land Keepers program, encompassing four broad programs focused on environmental restoration and community education, is keeping the Capital green.
‘VegLink’ involves community volunteers in on-ground native vegetation management including seed collection, seedling propagation and establishment. It also educates and trains volunteers in aspects of native vegetation management.
The ‘Biodiversity Incentives’ program works with landholders to achieve on ground conservation work on rural and non-urban land, while ‘Greening Industry’ works with agricultural and horticultural enterprises to improve environmental outcomes on local grape, olive, lavender and other horticultural farms.
The ‘ACT River Rescue’ program implements riparian habitat recovery along priority streams in the ACT to address biodiversity and water quality issues. Works may include fencing, erosion control, weed management and revegetation.
