Aboriginal Landcare Education Program (ALEP)
Greening Australia's Aboriginal Landcare Education Program (ALEP) supports Aboriginal communities across the Top End.
Established in 1994, ALEP recognises the intrinsic link between social and community health and well being, and caring for country, for indigenous communities and culture. The strength of ALEP lies in the broad network it has in Top End remote communities and the trust it has built up with these communities over its fourteen years of operation.
Through working with communities on project development, education and training, planning and supplying linkages and network opportunities ALEP has been able to develop holistic projects that meet communities’ needs and achieve integrated outcomes. ALEP is successful as it employs aboriginal people and works within the Aboriginal world view in partnership with Aboriginal groups.
ALEP Vision
Indigenous land management independently funded and controlled by Aboriginal people with the capacity to make management decisions using both traditional cultural practices and contemporary land management information.
