Florabank: Australia's premier resource for native seed

Through Florabank, Greening Australia has been at the forefront of native seed knowledge since the inception of the program in 2000.

Florabank brings together information, people and resources relating to native Australian seed.  Its aim is to increase the availability of good quality native seed for large-scale revegetation projects around Australia.

Native seed is the building block for successful revegetation.  We can’t revegetate successfully if we don’t have seed, and we need to know about how to best collect, store and propagate seed in order to increase the success and biodiversity values of revegetation projects.

To do this Florabank is:

  • Providing training for professional seed collectors
  • Providing and updating seed information resources for all people who work with or use seed
  • Working with the native seed industry on a National level

The Florabank website www.florabank.org.au contains a host of information about Australian Native seed.

Florabank is an initiative of the Australian Government and delivered by Greening Australia and CSIRO.
